Yet the suspicion that our tools are false gods who will betray our trust leads us to fear. If technology is about our own resourcefulness to increase our own power in achieving our own ends, then it is no wonder it tempts us to pride. Into the valley descends a mere boy with a mere slingshot, controlled by neither pride or fear, but filled with hope and trust in God: “You come to me with a sword and with a spear and with a javelin, but I come to you in the name of the LORD of hosts” (v45). As Goliath shouts his proud challenge, Saul and all Israel were “dismayed and greatly afraid” (v11, repeated in v24). We can see pride and fear clearly at each side of a valley in 1 Samuel 17. Technology thus stirs two emotions in us: pride and fear. Brian Arthur notes in The Nature of Technology that we put our hope in technology, yet we mistrust it.

As inspiration for more adventurous culinary efforts I’m following along with Ina Garten, aka The Barefoot Contessa, in my tiny New York kitchen. The preparation method is great influencing on the stability of o/w emulsion. The stability of emulsions is the most important parameters for the shelf life of the food products. Emulsions maybe divide into two phases over time through creaming, coalescence, flocculation or Ostwald ripening. Oil-in-water emulsions are conventionally defined as a thermodynamically unstable systems which include two immiscible liquids (generally water and oil), in which oil is distributed into the water. In conclusion, this study provides valuable information regarding emulsion preparation methods that can be feasible in food and beverage industries, demonstrating a better performance of ultrasound in optimizing and extending food shelf-life in food and beverage industries. However, aggregation in the emulsion appeared only after being subjected to high-pressure homogenization, while the emulsion made by the ultrasound treatment remained stable during 30 days storage. The experimental results showed that both high-pressure homogenization and ultrasonic treatment effectively reduced the apparent viscosity, average droplet size and narrowed the distribution range of the emulsion, compared with the pre-emulsion. The micro structure of the emulsion was observed under the fluorescence microscope. The apparent viscosity, particle size and distribution, emulsifying properties and ζ–potential of 5% coconut oil-in-water emulsion before and after ultrasound treatment or high-pressure homogenization were investigated and compared. The complexes (3:7and 4:6, by weight) of propylene glycol alginate and xanthan gum were selected as emulsifier. Therefore, the impact of high-pressure homogenization (30 MPa, 50M Pa) or ultrasound power (270 W) on the emulsion stability and emulsifying properties of 5% coconut oil-in-water emulsion were discussed in this study. In addition, the beneficial effects of ultrasound on the processing efficiency are known. High-pressure homogenization is a conventional approach to prepare emulsions because of its high efficiency. For this reason, stable emulsions that do not form peroxides nor change the fatty acid composition of food, as well as safe treatments to obtain them, are aspects of utmost importance. Emulsifiers are added to enhance product stability to obtain a satisfactory shelf-life. Today’s entertainment comes from many places, and these days it’s more than likely your smartphone. Like we said before, Pioneer says it expects more apps to show up in the future, but we'll just have to wait and see. That also means you won't be seeing all the apps the App Store has to offer popping up on your dash - so don't expect to play Angry Birds while sitting in rush hour traffic. When it comes to Pandora, that means you won't be able to set up any new stations while driving and, similarly, search functions have been disabled on both Rdio and Pandora. All of these applications have been designed specifically to meet Pioneer's standards, with a focus on safety. The first two, are, as you might already know, music apps, and the last two are a GPS and traffic app, respectively. There are currently only four official apps running on the system: Rdio, Pandora, MotionX-GPS Drive, and INRIX. Our big gripe here - and it is a big one - is that AppRadio is short on apps. Multi-touch controls, including pinch-to-zoom work well, and all of the apps we tested moved pretty swiftly. Once you're in any of the apps, controls are relatively simple, but you'll have to return to your phone or iPod to switch between applications. When you hit the app button, you'll have to have one of the four - Pioneer says it expects more to come before the big launch - approved apps running before a scrollable list appears. The radio is set up in a pretty simple fashion, but we imagine the lack of physical buttons will take some getting used to - you won't be able to blindly reach out and fiddle with the keys right out the gate. We didn't get a chance to test out the phone, but the other three options were relatively straightforward. Once there, you choose from a series of options - Radio, iPod, Apps, or Phone - from a menu on the multitouch capacitive display. Setting up AppRadio is a relatively simple affair - you just connect your fourth gen iPhone or iPod touch via the proprietary 30-pin connector, push a button and you're in. Red Guy leaves, while Duck is now in the mayor's office after locking the town. While Duck is appointed mayor, Red Guy finds the mayor's footsteps leading into the forest. Duck agrees, and the townspeople decide he should become the new mayor. The key says he's the key to the city, and starts singing a song about keeping the town secure from strangers. He takes the key out of his pocket and it becomes alive. Duck suddenly hears a voice saying that the town needs to be secure. Yellow Guy wonders who will sing his part of the song, Duck wonders who's gonna look after the town and Red Guy wonders who's going to find the mayor.
